Wellness

What is Wellness? What does being well look like? How does it feel?

Have you noticed that life can go along just fine for a while? You feel like you are actually moving ahead and accomplishing things. Then wham! Your life is out of balance and not very functional.

Wellness is having all parts of your life working for you and with you to support your life’s mission. It all starts with being willing to take a hard look at your life, identify areas of improvement, take time out to correct your course, and realize the purpose for the correction: take care of you first so you have the energy and health to fulfill your mission in life.

If you stumbled on this page and life is great, congratulations! The reality is that life will not stay rosy and we must develop the skill set to maneuver from an unpleasant place back to a positive place in life. If you are off balance and reaching out for support, congratulations! You’re on the right track toward happiness. If you are just curious about what more may be available for your life, congratulations! Asking questions and wanting to move forward in life will surely help motivate you to get there.

Is everything in your life functioning optimally? Are you able to do and accomplish what you want with ease? If not what is off? First, you need to honor your life and what has gotten you to this point. Second, consider what it is you want in life and what would afford you the powerful position of being in the drivers seat.

Below are four key areas that support your wellness. Work on any one area will help support the other three legs of wellness because they all effect each other. Pick one and get started. What matters is that you make an effort to better your life in any way possible.

Physical

How is your energy? How is your performance? How do you feel and look? What would bring you optimal energy, a clear head, and psychical fitness?  Rate yourself in the following categories from a 0-10, with 10 being optimal, and jot down goals that will move you forward.

Nourishment

Mental

Thoughts – What are the empowering thoughts you have about yourself, situations, and others?  What are the limiting thoughts you have about yourself, situations, and others?  You have millions or thoughts every minute. Why do certain ones stick? What causes you to ruminate?

Complications in any of these four factors are likely what is stopping your development and preventing you from operating at your current age level.  Your thought can lead you to destruction, or create power, creativity and abundance in every area of your life. Explore cognitive limitations so you can release these barriers and propel your natural, constructive abilities.

Emotional

Human beings are emotional creatures. Emotions are the lens by which we learn, view, and experience our world. What we often do with our emotions often leaves us stuck, when in fact emotions are meant to flow. Acting out our emotions in a healthy or unhealthy manner stems from environmental conditioning, genetic dispositions, or both. Remember, it is the expression that can be harmful, not the emotion itself. Relationships, for example, can foster an emotionally volatile environment. The more intimate the relationship, the deeper the investment and consequent vulnerability, which means the greatest opportunity for harm. In a safe, healthy environment, an intimate relationship can foster a nurturing and extremely satisfying opportunity for growth.

Spiritual

What does your soul connect with? What elevates your core, inner self? What empowers you to be the best person you can be? What motivates you to do right by humanity? Hope and belief in a higher power, who exists as a more omniscient being or entity than yourself, who has your best interests at heart, is a key element fostering the humility and faith necessary to succeed in life.
